Delia Chiaro is Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Bologna's Advanced School in Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators in Forlì (SSLiMIT). She is coordinator of the English section and teaches on the Postgraduate Course in Multimedia Translation. She is also a member of the executive committee of the Department for Interdisciplinary studies in Translation, Languages and Cultures.
Despite her somewhat un-British name, she was born and educated in the UK. However, Delia Chiaro has spent most of her professional life in Italy where she has taught at the universities of Naples, Salerno and Potenza.

Delia Chiaro's double national identity is clearly reflected in her research interests, all of which involve areas of study which are manifestly twofold: humour, multimedia_translation and bilingualism.
